Envirotek V20 Savonius Wind Turbine |
The Envirotek V20 is a two blade Savonius type VAWT wind turbine. It is a safe, quiet and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional propeller type wind turbines. The V20 is designed to maintain battery charge in leisure vehicles and remote installations. Unlike solar panels and with the right conditions, the vertical axis rotor can give a 24 hour "Top-Up" charge. No more lugging heavy batteries back and forth.
How Does a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Work?
The V20 rotates in a vertical plane driving a permanent magnet alternator. Although VAWT wind turbines are not as efficient as horizontal, they are virtually silent in operation and visually unobtrusive.
Applications include:
Parked RVs, caravans
Boats and sailing craft.
Small cabins and farm buildings.
Remote monitoring / relay equipment.
Electric gate openers.
CONSTRUCTION Plastic end plate and blades with aluminium central shaft create an extremely tough storm proof vertical axis wind turbine VAWT.
GENERATOR Robust permanent magnet alternator encapsulated inside lower compartment. Bridge diodes included producing DC .
CHARGE CONTROLLER 12V 6A charge controller (included) maintains lead-acid batteries in fully charged state. Improves performance & extends life by preventing overcharging.
The installation and the wiring connection of the unit has been made simple.
Unlike most small wind turbines, the V20 comes complete with mounting kit. This can be bolted to a wall or timber post. If you have a boat, it can be fitted directly to a 1` or 25 mm vertical tube (handrail). With the V20 VAWT constantly charging the batteries, enjoy piece of mind knowing your electric supply is always available. Start your engine from a fully charged battery and set sail without delay!
SPECIFICATION
Rotor size: 300 mm D x 900 mm L.
Operational Voltage 12V DC (connected to battery)
Power rating.
10 mph (4.5 m /s) = 0.75 A x 12V = 8 Watts
20 mph (9.0 m /s) = 3.0 A x 12V = 36 Watts
30 mph (13.5 m /s) = 5 A x 12V = 60 Watts
12V Charge rate per 24 hours
10 mph (4.5 m /s) = 0.75 A x 24 hours = 18 Ah
20 mph (9.0 m /s) = 3.0 A x 24 hours = 72 Ah
30 mph (13.5 m /s) = 5 A x 24 hours = 120 Ah
This can vary due to size and condition of battery.
